When designing a CD cover, I wanted to make something very beautiful and artistic to compliment the music. I looked through my picture library and found this serene image of my friends on the lake. I decided to play with the dreamy quality of the picture. I used the lasso tool to create a division between the foreground and the background. I used an artistic brush filter to create the background. I left the foreground as is in order to create a mysterious aspect to the image. The foreground represents reality, while the background represents the dream world. To create the CD title, I thought back to a quote from the classic film Hook (1991):“You know that place between sleep and awake? That place where you still remember dreaming?” The place between dreams described this image perfectly for me. For the back cover of the image I carried on the same effect. I chose that image from the internet because of its dreamy quality. I wanted to continue the theme of nature as well. I used a different artistic filter to achieve the background quality. I used brush and texture tools to create a blurry separation between the image and the text. The CD cover represents confusion between reality and dreams.
